Kit Homes Following Deck Construction Guidelines

There are two areas that are very closely regulated in deck construction guidelines by building codes.These building codes can differ depending on the area, but he construction team should be well aware of the codes and are legally bound to follow them if they are licensed in that state.If the person is doing the building himself, then he must find out what the deck construction guidelines are in these areas.Railings are important safety features, especially when the decks are raised significantly above the ground.Normally, the railings are made of wood or vinyl, but sometimes metals are used and even rope. The design of the railing is only limited by the building codes in that area, which usually state that the railing cannot have any spaces in it bigger than four inches by four inches so that small children cannot fit through the rails and get hurt.There are also some deck construction guidelines that require the ends of the posts be cut at an angle so that they do not become damaged by water and rot, thus becoming unsafe as a support on the deck.
Stairs are another area where there are strict deck construction guidelines that have to be followed.Usually, the steps have to be at least three feet wide so that someone has adequate room to move up and down the stairway.If there is a possibility of two people going down at the same time, then the minimum requirement is four feet wide.The recommended rise for the stairway according to deck construction guidelines so that it sill not be too steep and dangerous is that it is not more than a seven inch riser with a tread for the person’s foot that is not less than ten and a half inches.These deck construction guidelines help to keep individuals safe while traveling up and down the steps of the deck.
